Week 2 of Japanese

This week has been super long and tiring but we're finally back. For しゅくだい this week,  I had less time because I watched the すぽーつ game, but I was able to learn the rest of the ひらがな that I was struggling with just in time for すくーるてすと.  This week, my dorm watched an えいが and we voted on Kpop Demon Hunters which takes place in      かんこく. The えいが was very exciting and fun. I enjoyed the おんがくand the うた is very catchy. Smash Bros. This week I must have played 5+ hours in my dorm, because we also had a competition. It was really fun and I hope to do it again next week.

Self Introduction

This week has been going by very fast, but somehow I finally found the time to rewatch some of my favourite anime. I also recently watched Sakamoto Days, which is an anime about an assassin who has retired but it forced to go against new agents who are trying to take down the old organization.  Also, I started to try and read the original Japanese version of Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, which I had formerly read in English. It is a very interesting book that blends Japanese culture with fiction and a little bit of magic and spirit.  I was also busy booking tickets to the Japanese and Korean Festival Week movies, and I am excited for some of them, especially Mal-Mo-E: the Secret Mission (a Korean film) and Shoplifters (2018) a Japanese film. Even more exciting is the VR lecture series that showcases Japanese culture in the library that I also managed to sign up for. I can't wait to notice the use of Ja...

Why I chose Japanese

The reason I took Japanese was because I wanted it to be a special introduction to my study of East Asian languages. Although I have explored languages that are more prominent like French and English, I found that I have not really immersed myself with the culture of the Eastern World. Furthermore, the culture that Japan brings with its respectful attitude, delicious food and exciting anime lets me know that I would like to try really hard to be able to learn the language. For the first time, I have a broad choice to be able to choose the language I want to learn, and Japanese just was the first one that came to mind.  This semester, I hope that I am able to learn the basics and be able to take the continuation of this course. Memorization is a very hard and tiring activity to me so I am scared of Hiragana and learning a new alphabet, but I am sure with more consistent practice I will be able to do better.          We Can Do It!
