My Japanese learning journey this semester has been very scary but honestly soooo interesting and fun. When Hanabusa sensei asked who likes reading the Textbook in class on Thursday, I answered in my mind "I do" because of how fun it is to learn from the textbook. The graphics are very cute and the exercises are very beginner friendly. I can't wait to learn more next semester from the book!
I also have learned so much more than I thought was possible. The first email from the class reminding us of Hiragana seemed very scary at first but now I amaze myself everyday when I can recall and write Hiragana. I am still working on sounding out and spelling words in Katakana and it has been harder with Kanji (especially having to remember how the meaning of the letter can change). I can't believe that I will have written 4 or so writing sheets by the end of this semester in a completely new language! So incredible.
I also have been introduced to wonderful classmates who I am hoping to see in future classmates. Through the people around me, I have learned more about Japanese culture. In fact, some of my friends introduced me to Fujii Kaze. His songs are catchy and introduce me to even more Japanese sayings which expands my knowledge and continues to inspire me to learn more about the language.
In the end, I am super excited for next semester and am hoping to continue learning more about a language that is rich in culture and tradition!
